Zircon, which is an aesthetic and very durable type of porcelain, allows it to be used as a substructure material in ceramic dental restorations without using metal support. Very aesthetic and durable results are obtained in ceramic restorations made with support from zirconium material. Zirconium, known as a biocompatible material, is used not only in dental fields but also in orthopedic studies today in the production of artificial joints.
Advantages of Zirconium Crowns
- It provides superior aesthetic results compared to metal-supported ceramic restorations.
- It is extremely difficult to distinguish it from natural tooth structure.
- Purplish metallic colorations used in metal-supported ceramics are not seen.
- Thanks to the ceramic used in its infrastructure, it allows light to pass through and this provides a more natural and aesthetic appearance.
- Due to the biocompatible anti-allergic structure of zircon, it can be used safely in patients who are allergic to metal.
- Again, being a biocompatible material ensures that the restoration can be used safely and securely for years.
Who can have Zircon Supported Prosthesis?
- Those who have excessive material loss in their teeth
- Those who want to have bridge restoration
- Those who have problems in the front tooth area
- Those who want to get the best aesthetic results

Zirconium Crown Application Stages
1-Planning: The patient’s problematic teeth are checked and the procedures to be performed are planned and the patient is informed.
2-Preparation and CEREC Application: The patient’s teeth are prepared according to the CEREC system, and digital design and measurement are performed. The CEREC operator plans the bridge and designs the teeth digitally. Again, scraping and zirconium infrastructure is prepared with CEREC technology. The prepared structure is kept in a special oven for 9 hours to harden.
3-Rehearsals: The hardened structure is rehearsed by checking its compatibility with the mouth. The most appropriate color and image is selected by taking the patient’s opinion.
4- Practice: The treatment is terminated by applying the zirconium porcelain restoration, which is finalized in the laboratory environment, to the patient. With the zirconium porcelain restoration application, which takes a total of 6 days, you will have teeth in the most natural forms and with a superior aesthetic appearance.
