Surgical Neck Lift
When neck lift surgeries are considered in the surgical procedure, we refer to the neck area as a continuation and integral part of the face and recommend that it be performed together with face lift surgeries. In neck lift surgery, which begins under local or general anesthesia, incisions are made starting from the front of the ears, behind the ears, towards the hair area and along the natural jaw line.
The sagging and out-of-shape muscle structure is tightened, and excess fat tissue and excess skin are cut and removed in accordance with the existing structure. The reshaped neck is closed by stitching again from the incisions. There may be a small amount of edema and bruising after neck lift surgery. During the first few days after a neck lift, patients should sleep with their head slightly elevated at a 30-degree angle to minimize swelling. Any pain or discomfort is controlled with low-dose painkillers. Patients are seen again a day or two after surgery for bandage dressing change. Swelling and bruising will disappear within ten days after surgery.
Aerobic activity or brisk sports are not recommended in the first 2 weeks after neck lift. After approximately 1 month, you can start exercising with your doctor’s approval.
