A more voluminous and full-looking mustache can be obtained by transplanting a mustache to the mustache area that is sparse, bulky or lacking hair in some places.
What is Mustache Transplantation?
If there is no hair growth or hair loss on the upper lip in men, the definitive treatment is mustache transplantation. Mustache transplantation is the transplantation of hair follicles to the skin areas on the upper lip where mustache hair does not grow. The hair follicles to be transplanted instead of the mustache are taken from the nape of the neck, as in the treatment of baldness. For this, a strip of scalp is cut from the top of the neck and sliced into individual hair follicles. Then, hair follicles are transplanted one by one to the areas where mustache is missing.
The transplanted hair follicles preserve their previous characteristics in the mustache area and the hairs continue to grow. Therefore, the growing hair can be shortened at appropriate intervals during the mustache shave. Hair follicles cannot be nourished if they are planted too close to each other. Therefore, the planting density should be sufficient to ensure their nutrition. Once the hair follicles are nourished and the hair starts to grow (after 4-6 months), if there is a sparse mustache area, hair transplantation can be done again.
Mustache Transplantation and FUE Method
Problems such as scars, surgery scars, burn scars and hair loss in the mustache area can be almost completely camouflaged with mustache transplantation. In cases where no mustache grows, such as in the corners, a serious identity change can be achieved with mustache transplantation. Only the FUE method should be applied in mustache transplantation because the results of the FUT method are not satisfactory.
Hair follicles taken without using a motor with 0.6-0.7 mm tools should be transplanted simultaneously with the harvest, without cutting the skin, with the help of 0.6-0.7 mm tools. In this way, the transplantation time is shortened and there will be no root death since the roots do not wait.
If the tips used are thin, there will be no traces or signs of transplantation at both the harvesting and transplantation sites.
The individual determines the limits and frequency of transplantation. In general, when 1000 follicles are transplanted to someone who has no moustache, the hairy appearance disappears, but if a thicker beard is desired, the number should be higher. When beard transplantation is done with FUE, whether it is frequent or rare, it is so close to nature that the barber who has not seen it before cannot detect that it is transplantation while shaving.
With FUE, as many hair follicles as desired are taken from the desired location and transplanted to the determined mustache area, at the desired frequency and at the natural angle that should be in that area. Since mustache transplantation is such an important issue that it should not be done by assistant personnel, the transplantation should be done by the doctor himself.
