What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed to shape and regulate the unbalanced fat distribution in the human body. Liposuction, which is an effective solution to the problem of regional fat, is also used as an auxiliary tool in many aesthetic surgery procedures. For example, liposuction is used in gynecomastia surgeries performed for the breast enlargement problem seen in male patients. In crooked leg correction operations, fat is collected from another part of the patient and added to the problematic area in order to camouflage the crookedness. In short, liposuction is a frequently used application to improve the results of existing plastic surgery operations and make them more effective.

When liposuction surgeries are used alone, without being combined with any other procedure, they are mostly applied to stubborn regional fat problems that do not respond to diet and exercise. In order to create a natural contour, this area, which is fatty and causes protrusion problems, can be removed with liposuction and shaped like a sculpture.

It is possible to come across different types of liposuction used in plastic surgery today. The purpose of all of them is to remove the fat in the area and provide contour adjustment to the patient or to support another plastic surgery intervention. They differ in terms of their benefits and effectiveness.

In the Turmescent Liposuction technique, an anesthetic solution is administered to the problematic area and the area is inflated in order to minimize bleeding and subsequent discomfort.

In the Ultrasound Liposuction technique, ultrasound energy is used to loosen the fat tissue and quickly remove larger amounts of fat.

Laser Liposuction technique is performed with the help of laser technologies known by the brand names smartlipo or Slimlipo. Liposuction techniques are also available.

How is Liposuction Done?

Liposuction is a procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia when it is not used alone, that is, as an adjunct technique to any aesthetic surgery procedure. General anesthesia may also be preferred. Your plastic surgeon decides your anesthesia type and the areas where the procedure will be performed are limited with a pencil. One or more small incisions are made near the treatment area. Depending on which technique will be used, thin cannulas or thin tubes are inserted through these incisions. Under the guidance of the surgeon, the vibration of the instrument allows the deep fat to be melted and removed. The duration of the procedure varies depending on the size of the area and the amount of fat removed.

After Liposuction

With today’s advanced liposuction techniques, problems such as swelling, bruising or skin ripples have now been reduced to a minimum. Many patients can continue their daily lives where they left off a few days after the procedure, depending on the extent of the procedure and the physical intensity of their current lives. Although it varies depending on your pain threshold, many patients can get through their recovery process without using painkillers.

After liposuction, your surgeon may recommend you to wear a corset if deemed necessary. This is a precautionary procedure applied to prevent skin contraction and the formation of swelling. Small incision scars heal within a few weeks and disappear completely after 1 year.

Weight Gain After Liposuction

With liposuction, almost all of the regional fat cells are eliminated. You cannot ensure the formation of new cells in this area with 3-4 kilos of weight gain, but in case of excessive weight gain, it is possible that another area will gain fat outside this area. For this reason, we recommend that you participate in a determined weight maintenance program to maintain your new appearance.

If it is performed by an expert and qualified plastic surgeon, you can get extremely useful feedback from liposuction application and you will not have to doubt its safety. Liposuction, which is an excellent choice to improve the shape of your body and create an aesthetic structure, is definitely not a weight loss method. It saves you from regional excess fat. For this, you should resort to diet and exercise as your first option, and if you do not get results, you should consider liposuction.

Results

Most of our patients who come to our clinic and have the procedure done can return to work after a few days. The incisions are usually unnoticeable to others and become very blurry after a few days. Auxiliary products such as corsets worn according to the area after liposuction help to obtain optimum results from the application.

If our patients maintain their general weight after the application, they get permanent, aesthetic and highly effective results. Liposuction is not a weight loss method. It is an application that solves the problem of fat deposits only in areas that accumulate locally and create an unaesthetic appearance due to loss of form. If you have aesthetic concerns due to regional problems after regular exercise and a healthy and balanced diet, you can consider the liposuction procedure.

Liposuction Application Areas

The body areas that can be treated with liposuction are different for men and women. The most common treatment areas for women are the abdomen, breasts, hips, outer thighs, front thighs, inner thighs, knees, arms, hips, cheeks and neck. The most common treatment areas of men who make up approximately 15% to 25% of liposuction patients are the chin, neck area, abdomen, wings and breasts.

Vaser Liposuction- Ultrasonic Liposuction

We use Vaser Liposuction, also known as Ultrasonic liposuction technique, in our Estetik International clinics. Vaser lipo- Ultrasonic liposuction is a type of fat pulling procedure that liquefies fat cells before they are removed. This system is guided by ultrasound combined with ultrasonic waves that target fat cells. This application is also called ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL).

Vaser liposuction applies the standard liposuction method that everyone knows, but in addition, it breaks down the fat with high frequency sound waves before vacuuming the fat. This prevents problems such as bleeding, bruising and ripples on the skin surface that may occur with other methods. Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction (UAL) – Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasonic sound waves, breaks it down and turns it into liquid. In this way, possible problems are prevented.

The aim of ultrasound-assisted Vaser liposuction is to get rid of regional fat and shape the body. Again, we would like to remind you that it is not a weight loss procedure and that it targets stubborn regional fat that does not go away with diet and exercise.

Advantages of Vaser Liposuction

  • Can collect fat in more sensitive areas
  • It targets fat in regional areas where there is a lot of stubborn fiber tissue.
  • Allows application without damaging the skin
  • Protects surrounding nerves
  • The healing process is shorter
  • It can also reduce the surgeon’s fatigue because it liquefies the fat before it is removed.

This helps to get better results from the procedure.

Vaser Liposuction Application

Ultrasound liposuction begins with the application of the selected type of anesthesia. Then, ultrasonic energy is applied to the area where the application will be made. This destroys the walls of fat cells and liquefies them. After the liquefaction process, the fat is removed with a suction device called a cannula. After the application, with the recommendation and approval of your doctor, you can return home or be our guest for 1 night. You can start exercises that will not tire you within a few days after the procedure. Especially short distance walks will benefit blood circulation in the beginning. It is recommended that you wear a corset during this process.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

      Who Can Have Liposuction?

Good candidates for liposuction are people who have realistic expectations, are healthy, and are likely to be happy with the liposuction results. Individuals who cannot get rid of the regional fat problem despite paying attention to healthy nutrition, diet and exercise programs can have liposuction.

What Should Be Realistic Expectations for Liposuction?

After liposuction, individuals gain a new body shape or a toned appearance on the contour line of the area where the procedure was performed. Fat cells do not grow back in the area where liposuction was performed, but in general, excessive weight gain may cause changes.

Which Body Areas Can Be Treated with Liposuction?

The most common treatment areas for women are the abdomen, breasts, hips, outer thighs, front thighs, inner thighs, knees, arms, hips, cheeks and neck. For men, the most common treatment areas are the chin and neck area, abdomen, wings and breasts.

How Should I Choose a Surgeon Performing Liposuction and What Should I Ask?

Although liposuction prices are one of the most frequently asked questions, the decision to choose a surgeon should not depend only on the price of liposuction. The cheapest liposuction price may mean that incomplete procedures are being performed. For this reason, we recommend that you think about your health before costs and plan the questions you will ask accordingly. Don’t hesitate to ask your doctor any questions about liposuction. Ask all the important and burning questions and make your choice based on the answers you get before making the final decision. In our Estetik International clinics, liposuction is performed extremely meticulously by our surgeons who are specialized in this field.

What are the Important Features for Safe Liposuction?

Liposuction is a procedure that should be performed in a hospital or clinic environment with an operating room. A safe surgical facility for liposuction minimizes the risk of surgical infections. It is also important to maintain high standards for cleanliness and maximum comfort for the patient.

Will There Be a Visible Scar After Liposuction?

In liposuction, very small cannulas (microcannulas) are used and this is performed by making only a very small incision. The scar heals completely or remains as a faint spot.

Is Liposuction a Suitable Treatment for Weight Loss?

Liposuction is not a weight loss method. With liposuction, you solve the problem of regional fat that you cannot get rid of with diet and exercise alone.
