What is Porcelain Lamina?

Porcelain laminate, also known as leaf porcelain, is an application that provides solutions to different dental problems that negatively affect the appearance. It is applied to the front teeth, which are especially problematic in terms of aesthetics, by adhering a porcelain laminate sheet specially prepared for the patient. With their very solid structure, natural appearance and unchanging colors, they are one of the most preferred dental applications in terms of aesthetics.

Who can have porcelain laminate?

Porcelain porcelain laminate applications made with the help of CEREC technology;

  • Patients who have tooth discoloration problems and cannot get satisfactory results with cosmetic teeth whitening methods,
  • As an alternative to orthodontic treatment for those who have gaps between their teeth or have crooked teeth,
  • In the restoration of broken, worn and damaged teeth,
  • Especially in those who have midline problems in tooth alignment,
  • It can be used easily in those with gum recession problems.

Advantages of Porcelain Lamina

Porcelain laminate, one of the most preferred methods in aesthetic dentistry, has many advantages.

  • It is a technique that causes minimal tissue loss and is often performed without the use of anesthesia.
  • The fact that the application is carried out very quickly prevents loss of time.
  • Porcelains are more resistant to abrasion than other materials.
  • Porcelain laminates have a very aesthetic appearance thanks to their light permeability and are preferred as the material closest to natural teeth.
  • After gluing the porcelain leaves, their bond to the tooth enamel is quite good.
  • They are extremely durable, resistant to abrasion and do not change color over time.
  • Thanks to the polish applied to the porcelain, the problem of plaque accumulation on the teeth is very low.
  • It is not affected by substances that change the color of the teeth, such as coffee, tea, cigarettes, and natural saliva absorption, and no color change occurs.

Porcelain Lamina Application Stages

In porcelain laminate applications, we use globally accepted CEREC digital dentistry technologies in our clinic to provide maximum aesthetic appearance to our patients and to perform the application with zero errors.

1- Planning: The dentist examines the patient’s problematic teeth and gum problems and makes a plan, and the patient is informed about which procedures will be performed and their stages.

2- CEREC Technology: The teeth are designed by digitally imaging them through a camera placed in the mouth. This process takes approximately 1 hour on average. The digital measurement precision used in CEREC technology ensures error-free results and the elimination of many intermediate stages, allowing the process to be completed in an average of 1 hour.

3- Cutting and Scraping: A 0.5 mm scraping is made on the patient’s natural tooth surface. Gums are corrected.

4- Bonding Porcelain Laminates: Porcelain leaves designed thanks to CEREC technology, where we get the most suitable and aesthetic results, are bonded to natural teeth.

After Porcelain Lamina Application

After porcelain laminate application, you will immediately have an aesthetic appearance. The natural beauty you achieve thanks to the application helps you smile confidently and feel good psychologically. Porcelain laminates can be used for years without any problems. For this reason, you should take good dental and oral care and not skip your routine dentist check-ups. You should also avoid biting hard foods or gnawing any material such as nails, and make it a habit to floss once a day.

Why Should I Prefer Porcelain Lamina?

The porcelain laminate technique, used to permanently change the shape and color of the teeth, is a very thin, shiny, smooth porcelain plate that matches the shape and color of other teeth, gums and lips and provides the patient with a natural smile. In this way, it provides a significant change on your face.

How to Care for Porcelain Laminate?

Due to the large number of bacteria living in the oral cavity, all restoration procedures increase the risk of tooth decay. By paying attention to oral hygiene and keeping your teeth and veneers clean, you can extend the life of your laminates and prevent complications. To achieve this, be sure to follow your routine oral care (toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, and interdental brush) and visit your dentist’s office.
